Construction Materials Engineering TechnicianS&ME is searching for motivated and hard-working Construction Materials Engineering Technicians at all experience levels to join our Construction Services group in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring construction projects, from local eateries to major sports venues, are built with quality and safety at the forefront. Whether you're new to the field or bring years of expertise, you'll receive hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to advance. Seasoned professionals can take on leadership roles, guiding projects and mentoring colleagues.Your day-to-day:Field & Lab Testing: Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.Sample Collection & Prep: Collecting and preparing samples for analysis.Data Interpretation & Reporting: Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports.Team Collaboration & Compliance: Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure all work meets specifications and safety guidelines.Experience shifting work hours based on project demands and weather, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Occasional travel to support other offices is covered with per diem and lodging.What you bring:High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levelsActive industry certifications such as: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)Basic math proficiency, including an understanding of measurements and units of weightThe understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travelValid U.S. driver's license or an International Driving Permit (IDP) valid for driving in the United States, with an acceptable driving recordAbility to safely operate a company-assigned vehicle, including trucks and SUVsWillingness to complete a background check, driving record check and drug screen upon offer of employmentCompensation and technician level will be based on experience and industry certifications.Working conditions and physical demands:Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periodsRoutinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Working outside of normal business hours when necessaryWe are S&ME:At S&ME, we're committed to your growth, professionally and personally.
