Role Overview

This Orange County Commonwealth's Attorney office employs a vertical prosecution approach allowing our attorneys to follow cases from the district level courts through Circuit Court. We expect excellence, but value work life balance. We are quick to point out the quality of life is found in our beautiful rural community with access to urban amenities.


Role Description

• Work as part of a team effectively prosecuting criminal cases in the JDR, General District, and Circuit courts.
• Interview witnesses, negotiate with opposing counsel.
• Work closely with law enforcement, victim-witness advocates, expert witnesses, and outside prosecutors at the local, state, and federal levels.

Education and Experience

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Graduation from an accredited law school or recognized equivalent.
• Active membership in good standing in the Virginia State Bar and a license in good standing from the Virginia Supreme Court.
• Comprehensive knowledge of criminal law and procedure, Rules of Evidence, and the Rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
• Strict compliance with the Virginia Code of Professional Ethics.
• Preference will be given to attorneys with prior prosecutorial experience.
