Licensed Practical Nurse LPN

NurseMust work a 13 week contract. Candidates must be able to work all three shifts. (Morning, evening, and midnights.) Candidates must be able to work up to 20 hours of overtime if needed. (Some mandated overtime may occur)LPNs must be licensed by the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses and have no record of prior or pending disciplinary action against him or her by the licensure body or agency. West Virginia is a member of the National Council of State Board of Nursing and participates in the multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).LPNs assigned to one of the acute care psychiatric facilities must have a minimum of one (1) year experience and working knowledge of the concepts of mental health, health disorders and related physical conditions and related treatment approach.LPNs must assist professional nursing & medical staff in providing direct nursing care to patients, including medical treatments, administering medications, giving injections, assisting in care planning and recording, and such other services within the scope of the LPNs license.LPNs must take and record temperatures, blood pressure, pulse and respirations; collect specimens for testing; administer medications according to the Physician Order; and perform such other services requested within the scope of the LPNs license.LPNs must ensure timely documentation into patients' electronic medical records, per the policies, procedures and common practices of the assigned facility to be discussed in detail during the hospital/facility orientation.LPNs must screen patients and record medical information; assist physician and registered nurse in examinations and treatments; set up and clean examination area; give injections and immunizations; instruct patients/clients in the use of medication and possible side effects.LPNs will provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safety of the patients/clients.LPNs must assist in response to medical and psychiatric emergencies.LPNs must communicate with physicians for patient care regimen in order to meet patient care needs.LPNs must assist patients with activities of daily living such as grooming and personal hygiene.LPNs may testify in court and commitment hearing when found appropriate and deemed necessary. The psychiatric physician must be present and available to testify as necessary and LPNs must be available to appear and testify.LPNs must respond to inquiries from family members, advocate, and other interested parties, ensuring adherence to the Confidentiality laws, and the HIPPA Regulations.LPNs assigned to an acute care setting must have successfully completed a course in Intravenous therapy and training in venipuncture which permits the LPNs to start Intravenous fluids.LPNs must provide all services in a manner consistent with the applicable standard of care.LicenseLPNBLS/CPRPrefer the individual to have psychiatric knowledge and experience. The individual must be on time, willing to work rotating shifts, including weekend shifts, able to work 12 hour shifts and willing to be mandated to meet the needs for the facility and requirements of the State of West Virginia. State dress code applies as well as all West Virginia, DHHR/DHF/OSA policies and procedures. The candidate must have an active status with current Licensure with no actions against license.
