The facility is comprised of a 221-bed hospital, various physician clinics, home care services, comprehensive cancer care, and award-winning services. The role of the Registered Nurse involves assuming responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients. Nurses will prescribe nursing care based on the nursing process and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members. The position involves coordinating patient care across all age groups and incorporating teaching and discharge planning needs into the care plan. Registered Nurses will delegate specific aspects of patient care to other nursing staff, depending on their clinical competence and legal scope of practice. This position is represented by a professional nursing association. Education requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, with preferred acute care facility experience. Licenses and certifications required include Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, with PALS certification required at time of hire for Emergency Department nurses. Essential functions include utilizing the nursing process for patient assessments and care planning, evaluating the effectiveness of care, and modifying plans as necessary. Nurses must consider age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs when providing care. Collaboration with other disciplines is vital for formulating the care plan for assigned patients. Knowledge of pharmacology is crucial when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Patient and family education must be provided throughout the care delivery process. Emergency response protocols must be followed during patient emergencies or disasters. Registered Nurses will oversee patient care delivery and ensure patient safety and well-being. They will report observations and problems regarding patient care promptly. Nurses are responsible for problem-solving and clinical decision-making. Continuity of care must be ensured through processing physician's orders and treatment plans. Nurses will act as patient advocates, ensuring patient rights and intervening as necessary. Registered Nurses must maintain awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members is essential. Documentation of assessments, interventions, and care provided is necessary. Technical aspects of patient care must be performed according to established protocols with a focus on detail and patient comfort. Registered Nurses are expected to demonstrate competency in emergency procedures. Other job-related duties will be assigned as needed.
