Amherst Middle School is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Nutrition Worker to join our food service team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative kitchen environment while supporting student nutrition and wellness.

Position Summary:
The Nutrition Worker supports daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, service, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This position works closely with the Chef-Manager to ensure efficient meal service and compliance with all food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation and service of breakfast food and beverages
• Support the Chef-Manager with meal prep for lunch service and future production
• Set up and assist with lunch line service, including serving students
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service to students and staff

Qualifications:

Skills:

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic operation of kitchen equipment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow procedures
• Customer service-oriented mindset

Knowledge:

• Basic math and reading comprehension
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices (training provided if needed)

Certifications:

• Safe Food Handler Certification required within 30 days of hire

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Ability to stand for extended periods (majority of shift)
• Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and reaching
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Work performed in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures
• Occasional travel to other schools within the district may be required

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
• Strong communication skills
• Flexibility to adapt to changing kitchen needs and product availability

Experience in food service is preferred but not required we are willing to train the right candidate.
