Personal Banker – Consumer Banking Personal Bankers at UMB build customer relationships and recommend and sell UMB products and services. They use product knowledge to identify needs and offer financial solutions, helping customers secure their financial well‑being while making banking easy. Responsibilities Ask personalized questions to convert every customer interaction into an opportunity to learn more about their financial goals and connect them to solutions that meet their needs. Individually create and manage a successful loan pipeline with strong closing conversions by focusing on prospecting and cross‑selling home equity loans and lines of credit, unsecured personal loans, auto loans, and mortgage referrals. Create sales opportunities and grow UMB’s customer base by applying product knowledge to source consumer lending opportunities through networking, customer conversations, business development, and proactive sourcing. Learn and perform processes such as transaction processing, cash drawer management, and completing bank documentation consistently according to industry and legal standards. Challenge daily key performance metrics to elevate personal goals while balancing competing priorities and providing an unparalleled customer experience. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of retail banking sales experience or other relevant experience. Reliable transportation and ability to work branch hours, including weekends and some evenings. Ability to obtain NMLS registration within 90 days. Ability to learn products, services, and procedures quickly and accurately. Basic math skills and ability to problem‑solve while operating within established risk parameters/tolerances. Demonstrated ability to make personal connections, engage and educate customers, ask open‑ended questions, and listen to establish trust and build lasting relationships. Strong business development capabilities for proactively growing own book of business through campaign offers, prospecting leads, service‑to‑sales conversations, and leveraging centers of influence for referrals. Thrives in a high‑energy, sales‑driven team and leverages daily coaching and feedback to improve sales outcomes. Uses expert product knowledge and conversation skills to build upon customers’ needs and make a true difference in their financial lives. Communicates in a compelling manner, projects a positive image, and enjoys solving problems and creating positive outcomes. Demonstrates attention to detail when completing documents or explaining features and benefits. Enjoys coaching others as a sales mentor. Bonus Points College degree or military equivalent (strongly preferred). Bilingual. Compensation Base Salary: $44,685 – $65,736 (actual compensation may vary by location, experience, and other factors).
