A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you arrive for each shift determined to provide each resident with the guidance and support needed to improve or maintain Independence in their activities of daily living. Your positive attitude makes a huge impact on the lives of our senior residents-as you spend so much one-on-one time with them, assisting with all the activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and toileting. You also assist in transporting patients to the dining room and other activities. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe environment is one of your top priorities. You even monitor wheelchairs and recliners for cleanliness and proper operation, reporting any broken equipment to the charge nurse. You make regular rounds and answer patients' call lights promptly.

Conscientiously, you also adhere to infection control policies and procedures. You assist with specific tasks under the supervision of the nurse such as taking vital signs and weighing patients. You keep accurate records as required. You are vigilant about reporting any unusual events or changes in the condition of residents to the charge nurse. Your attention to detail and accuracy as well as your commitment to teamwork helps ensure the highest quality of care. You are patient and calm, treating those you care for just the way you would want your own family members treated. Your insightful contributions to care plan meetings are invaluable. You go home each day tired but feeling good about the positive impact you have made in the lives of our senior residents and their families!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)

• Certified as a nursing assistant in the State of Florida
• Ability to maintain AIDS education as required by the State of Florida
• Ability to perform physical tasks typically performed in CNA work including lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistive lifting devices
• Good physical and mental health
• A heart for working with seniors
