Sanitation Technician

The Sanitation Technician at Nemacolin assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning resort environment through dependable waste management and property support. This role is responsible for the safe collection, transportation, separation, and disposal of waste across resort facilities on and off the property while operating equipment responsibly and responding to changing operational needs. What You Will Create A clean and well-maintained resort environment by safely collecting, transporting, and disposing of garbage from designated facilities and operational areas across the property Responsible waste management practices by properly separating recyclable materials, including glass, paper, and plastic, and following established environmental and disposal procedures Safe and efficient daily operations by operating trash compactors and other assigned equipment appropriately, maintaining awareness of equipment condition, and following established safety practices Consistent operational coverage by working independently across assigned locations, organizing daily responsibilities, and completing sanitation needs efficiently and thoroughly Functional sanitation equipment by identifying equipment issues and performing basic repairs or component replacement with appropriate hand and power tools when qualified to do so A responsive Engineering Department operation by supporting snow removal, rotating assignments, and other property-wide responsibilities as directed by leadership A dependable partnership with the Engineering Team through effective communication, responsible care of resort property, and a willingness to support changing operational priorities What You Can Expect A hands‑on role supporting the cleanliness, safety, and daily operation of a large, complex resort Work across resort facilities and locations on and off property rather than in a stationary environment A physically active position requiring safe handling of waste, equipment, and materials Daily responsibilities that require independence, reliability, and attention to detail The opportunity to develop practical skills in sanitation, equipment operation, property care, and resort operations A collaborative environment with regular interaction with Engineering Department associates and other resort teams Changing priorities based on weather, occupancy, events, seasonal needs, and resort operations Opportunities to broaden your responsibilities and develop within the Engineering Team A flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts What You Bring A dependable, hands‑on approach and pride in maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environments The ability to work independently, organize daily assignments, and remain productive with limited supervision A strong commitment to safe work practices and responsible equipment operation The ability to handle physical work involving lifting, transporting, and disposing of materials A willingness to learn equipment, tools, procedures, and sanitation practices Strong communication and relationship‑building skills A collaborative, service‑oriented approach to supporting associates and resort operations The flexibility to respond to changing assignments, weather conditions, and operational priorities Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license required Ability to speak English Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts Previous sanitation, maintenance, facilities, hospitality, custodial, or related experience is helpful, but equivalent hands‑on experience and a willingness to learn may be considered Additional Information This job description reflects the primary responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position and is intended to provide a general understanding of the role.
