We are seeking an experienced Clinical Research Nurse Specialist to support the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) Clinical Research program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Position Overview This is a high-level, autonomous role. You will collaborate directly with Principal Investigators (PIs), serve as an Associate Investigator , and take a leadership role in managing the entire clinical protocol life cycle. You will drive clinical trials forward from design to data analysis, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, data integrity, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Protocol Ownership: Lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of multiple complex clinical research protocols. Patient Care & Support: Provide specialized nursing care to complex clinical populations, facilitate patient recruitment/enrollment, and educate or counsel patients and families. Regulatory Oversight: Act as the expert lead on regulatory affairs, ensuring strict compliance with FDA, IRB, bioethics mandates, and human subject protection policies. Data Management: Direct clinical research data management, perform data entry, and establish quality assurance frameworks to protect data integrity. Scientific Collaboration: Evaluate trends in research study outcomes, resolve data queries, and contribute to oral and written scientific presentations of data. Qualifications & Skills Active Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from any US state, Washington D.C., or US territory. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of specialized, professional Research Nursing experience with strong regulatory exposure. Clinical Depth: Direct experience providing specialized nursing care to cancer or other complex clinical populations in a dedicated research environment. Core Skills: Exceptional communication, data entry, multitasking, and organizational skills with strict attention to detail. Highly Preferred Qualifications (The "Ideal" Candidate): Certifications: Active CCRC (Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) or CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) credential from ACRP or SOCRA. Protocol Development: Demonstrated experience actively writing, editing, or contributing to IRB submissions and protocol design (rather than just executing pre-existing trials). Systems Proficiency: Experience with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems (e.g., REDCap , Medidata Rave) and clinical research platforms (e.g., NIH CRIS). Specialty Alignment: Clinical background in oncology, immunology, or rare tissue/bone disorders. Academic Contribution: History of contributing to scientific abstracts, white papers, or oral data presentations. Schedule: Steady daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with no weekends and off on all Federal holidays. Flexibility: Primarily onsite at the historic NIH Clinical Center, with remote work flexibility at the discretion of the NIDCR. Equipment Provided: Full workspace, computer, phone, and necessary electronic tools supplied by the government.
