Independent Medical Review | Remote Opportunity Organization : Christopher Place Healthcare Review (CPHCR) Location : Remote Schedule : Flexible, weekday-based; no nights, weekends, or on-call responsibilities Position Type : Physician Reviewer Position Summary Christopher Place Healthcare Review (CPHCR) is seeking qualified, board-certified physicians to serve as Physician Reviewers for independent medical review cases. CPHCR is a nationally trusted, URAC-accredited Independent Review Organization headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. We partner with state insurance departments, health plans, and managed care organizations throughout the United States to provide timely, impartial, and clinically sound medical reviews. Physician Reviewers use their clinical expertise to evaluate medical information and provide independent, objective, evidence-based determinations. This remote opportunity allows physicians to contribute to healthcare quality and appropriate medical decision-making while maintaining flexibility around their existing clinical schedules. Key Responsibilities Conduct independent, objective reviews of assigned medical cases within their area of specialty. Review relevant medical records, clinical documentation, treatment plans, and other case materials. Evaluate the clinical appropriateness and medical necessity of requested or provided healthcare services. Apply current evidence-based medicine, nationally recognized clinical guidelines, accepted standards of care, and professional clinical judgment. Provide clear, concise, and clinically supported written determinations. Complete assigned reviews within established regulatory and contractual turnaround times. Maintain impartiality and identify any actual or potential conflicts of interest before accepting a case. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and information-security requirements. Maintain all required professional licensure, board certification, and clinical qualifications. Participate in required annual training and reviewer updates. Remain responsive to CPHCR regarding case assignments, documentation, credentialing, and reviewer requirements. Minimum Qualifications Current, unrestricted medical license in the physician's state of practice. Current board certification in the physician's medical specialty. Minimum of five years of post-graduate clinical experience. Evidence of clinical activity within the previous three years. Ability to provide independent and impartial clinical opinions. Ability to review complex medical documentation and communicate conclusions clearly in writing. Ability to meet established case turnaround times. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable regulatory and organizational requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing utilization review, peer review, independent medical review, or external appeal review. Familiarity with evidence-based clinical guidelines and medical necessity criteria. Experience working with health plans, managed care organizations, government agencies, or insurance-related medical review programs. Strong written communication and analytical skills.
