Health Information Specialist II

Position Overview We are seeking a Health Information Specialist II to provide full onsite Release of Information (ROI) support. This role supports patient services and ROI processing. Key Responsibilities Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information. Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software. Adhere to the company’s and customer facilities’ code of conduct and policies. Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes. Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as needed. Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to guard against unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records and safeguard them in compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents and information from paper sources or electronic health records. Ensure medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete. Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record. Respond to requests for patient records, both within the facility and from external sources, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately. Answer inbound/outbound calls. Assist with patient walk‑ins. Assist with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry. Schedule pick‑ups as needed. Assist with training associates in the HIS I position. Generate reports for manager or facility as directed. Exceed level 1 productivity expectations as outlined at the specific site. Participate in project teams and committees to advance operational strategies and initiatives as needed. Act in a lead role with staff regarding general questions and assist with new hire and developmental training. Other duties as assigned. Training & Onboarding Datavant DHISC training. Hands‑on, role‑specific training during the first 30 days. Qualifications & Skills Strong customer service and communication skills. Comfortable working in a patient‑facing, front desk environment. Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage confidential information. Reliable, punctual, and professional. Ability to multitask and work independently. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Prior healthcare, HIM, or ROI experience preferred. Ability to work fully onsite. Willingness to travel locally as coverage needs arise. Proficiency with computers, email, and office equipment. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Salary Range $16.73 – $21.43 USD per hour Datavant is committed to a work environment free from job discrimination.
