Position Overview

We are looking for a Field Service Technician to be responsible for various tasks in support of the company, both in-house and at customer sites for our Logistics team. The position includes extensive hands-on work, including but not limited to the assembly, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of machine vision equipment, primarily in the logistics industry.

Successful candidates will have experience in hands-on mechanical and technical disciplines of work, as well as knowledge of PCs and PC hardware/software.

This position is offered at our Head Office located in Louisville, Kentucky, but will include travel (up to 100%) to job-sites in the United States and Canada.

The Field Service Technician will report to the Sr. Manager - Service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct equipment installation (mechanical/electrical), vendor trials, start-up, and commissioning activities for machine vision equipment, primarily in the logistics industry. This includes building frames, installing equipment, wiring of equipment, and static and dynamic commissioning.
• Maintains, identifies, and eliminates problems with equipment to ensure minimal or ideally zero down time.
• Conduct onsite service visits for customers to troubleshoot and repair issues with previously installed equipment.
• Checks drawings provided by mechanical and electrical designers for accuracy and provides feedback for corrections as needed. In addition, provide mechanical and electrical as-built drawings to the design team upon installation completion
• Perform basic electrical work, wiring, and troubleshooting of electrical and data connectivity for various mechanical and electronic equipment.
• Reports any possible equipment defects, malfunctions, problems, or concerning trends to supervisor in a timely fashion.
• Provides training to onsite maintenance on specification and operation of new equipment and system updates.
• Collaborates with cross-functional business units to ensure optimal program performance and results.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date process documentation and tracking.
• On a rotating basis, staff the 24/7 hotline for customer support and trouble shooting.

• Maintains flexibility and adaptability to perform other duties and responsibilities as they become necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical field, with emphasis on mechanical application.
• 2 years technical degree, technical certifications, or military/technician experience equivalent or 6 years work experience.
• Ability to travel up to 100% (based on scheduled projects) within the United States and Canada, while meeting site vaccination requirements.
• Electrical knowledge: able to read wiring diagrams, test/troubleshoot electrical wiring, and solder electrical connections
• Ability to read mechanical drawings
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
• Ability to work in a (sometimes) physically demanding environment
• Able to learn new tasks quickly and sometimes on-the-job
• Understanding of PC configuration and installation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Logistics/Machine Vision field-based installation.
