Our Simulation team builds foundational infrastructure for large-scale simulations critical to autonomous system development. We operate at the intersection of cloud computing, distributed systems, and core simulation, supporting daily use across QA, autonomy, ML, safety, and data science teams to verify, investigate, validate, and analyze system scenarios. About the Role As a Simulation Backend Engineer, you'll design, build, and optimize systems powering distributed simulation workloads. Your work will span data pipelines, orchestration, cloud storage, and microservice infrastructure, enabling efficient and reliable large-scale experiments for our engineers and researchers. What You'll Do Architect and implement backend services for managing simulation jobs at scale. Design data storage and retrieval pipelines using systems like S3, Postgres, and Redis. Build distributed messaging systems with Kafka for event-driven pipelines. Define infrastructure as code with Terraform for deployment and scaling in AWS. Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams for integration and performance. What You'll Need 3+ years of experience building backend services in production. Proficiency in Python (preferred), Java, or Go. Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and distributed systems. Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, EKS), Redis, Kafka, Postgres, Terraform. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. No relocation sponsorship or remote options available.
