The mine is accessed via company transportation including bus rides and a boat ride through Lynn Canal. Coeur Alaska is an integral part of the local community and actively supports education and workforce development programs, environmental stewardship efforts, arts and culture, and local nonprofit agencies through monetary investments, in-kind support, and employee volunteerism. Approximately 400 miners, mechanics, engineers, operators, geologists, environmental technicians, exploration, and business leaders operate the Kensington mine. About the Job: The Geological Technician will report to the Senior Exploration Geologist and is responsible for various duties related to storage, organization and optimization of core samples. The schedule for this position is 15 days on at the mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 13 days off.Responsibilities:
- Stop work for safety concerns, and abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures.
- Undertake sample handling in the core yard.
- Organize core sample transfer to mine lab.
- Prepare and load core sample shipments and associated paperwork for transfer to outside labs.
- Prepare and maintain records of assay lab submittal sheets and shipment transfer records.
- Follow the core sawing requirements for exploration drill holes, as directed by supervisor.
- Help with sample storage efforts.
- The successful candidates will work twelve (12) hours per day, fifteen (15) days on / thirteen (13) days off. Position will be located at the camp during shift rotation.

- Excellent safety, attendance, and work records.
- Computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Comfortable operating heavy equipment (forklifts, skid steer) and light vehicles (pickup truck, flatbed).
- Ability to work in multiple-task environment and work with supervisor to properly assign priorities.
- Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but able to recognize and support organization's priorities and preferences.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) with all mine site personnel.
- Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented.
- Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible and able co-exist in remote camp setting.
- Experience with acQuire Database is helpful but not essential.
- Preference given to Alaska residents.
- Working outdoors in a range of environmental conditions, including rain, snow, ice, wind, cold temperatures, and periods of limited daylight.
- Frequent standing and walking on uneven surfaces on surface and underground.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and escapeways.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds often and up to 70 pounds on occasion, pushing and pulling equipment or materials up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Employees must be able to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when applicable, work in varying environmental conditions, and participate in emergency response and evacuation procedures.
