Collections Specialist I

The Collections Specialist I is responsible for collecting delinquent payments and providing member service regarding collection issues. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

• Performs outbound calls on delinquent members, services inbound calls, accurately documents member interactions, payment arrangements, and action plans in the core collection platform.
• Skip traces for members that the Credit Union hasn't been successful in reaching; reviews loan documentation, leverages skip trace platform(s) and references prior collection notes in an effort to reach the member.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience processing transactions and delivering customer/member service in a banking or credit union environment Required
• One or more years of experience in a banking or credit union collections environment Preferred

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Other Skills Required:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business writing ability
• Excellent time management skills and accustomed to working with deadlines.
