PRN Registered Respiratory Therapist II - Non-NICU @ Cobb Hospital

Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multi‑problem situations, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making, and self‑direction. The role also encompasses patient and family education, coordination of activities, staff development, professional and self‑developmental activities, and support of new employees. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provide customer service through completion of patient care, documentation, and education. Maintain a team approach to service, promote a team spirit, and foster a positive work environment. Provide a supportive environment for students and staff. Administer quality patient care, including patient assessment, verification of orders, and administration of aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy. Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care), and arterial blood gas sampling & analysis. Educate patients, mentors, and preceptors; participate in the education of new employees, students, and peers. Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing as location specific. Promote current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging. Promote high levels of patient safety (Medication Safety, NPSG, etc.) and performance improvement initiatives. Promote evidence‑based practice and review revised and new DPPs. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with All WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associates Respiratory Care or Bachelors Respiratory Therapy (Preferred) Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) Registered Respiratory Therapist Respiratory Care Professional Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Instructor or ACLS – Provisional Required Minimum Experience 0–2 years clinical experience, with minimum 6‑months critical care experience.
