Pharmacy Technician I

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a dedicated, patient-focused Pharmacy Technician I to join our experienced inpatient pharmacy team. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering exceptional patient care by preparing, filling, and dispensing medications in a fast-paced hospital environment. Working alongside pharmacists and a world-renowned medical team, you will contribute to safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution while supporting the care of our patients. Here, department staff has access to a number of drug information resources, including many online references accessible from department computers. An on-site drug information center provides support for more in-depth questions.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 1, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, assists in dispensing and transporting medications. This entry level position learns to conduct non-sterile and/or sterile compounding and is responsible for maintaining the required documentation & records.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: No Experience
• Supervisor Experience: No Experience
• Licenses & Certifications: State Bd Pharm Registration

Preferred Requirements

• Licenses & Certifications: Pharmacy Tech Certification
