Substance Use Disorder Counselor I – OWI Assessor

Human Services

Basic Function

Provide comprehensive Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) assessment and services to individuals presenting with an OWI obtained in Racine County.

Essential Duties

\n
• Provide screening, assessment, and document OWI assessment intake for new clients.
\n
• Engage patient in services.
\n
• Prepare required documents relating to the OWI.
\n
• Enter required data into the state DOT system.
\n
• Participate in professional staffing and meetings as required.
\n
• Maintain a professional and confidential relationship with patients.
\n
• Maintain records in compliance with Racine County and Wisconsin regulations.
\n
• Focus on continued quality improvement.
\n
• Provide oral and written communication that is appropriate to the task and in accordance with agency and DHS 65.
\n
• Make intervention and assessment decisions using the “Best Practice” philosophy.
\n
• Work collaboratively with consumers, families, BHS, and other community resources to coordinate appropriate referral and resolution.
\n
• Communicate pertinent information on a timely basis and participate in clinical supervision case reviews, staffing's, and/or case planning meetings.
\n
• Complete all necessary health care/medical and financial record documentation required to maintain complete medical and financial billing records.
\n
• Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
\n

Supervision Received

Receives supervision from the AODA Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
\n
• One year counseling experience.
\n
• Employee must be licensed in the State of Wisconsin as a SAC-IT or SAC.
\n
• Prompt and regular attendance.
\n
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and auto insurance are required.
\n

• Must be able and willing to some work evenings.
\n
