Employee Type Non-Exempt Required Degree High school Description Performs duties which provide protection of life and property; enforcement of federal, state, and local laws; response to emergency situations; investigation of criminal activity; intervention in criminal activity; provide crime prevention information and proactive patrol. Assignment to specialized units within the Department include Support Services, Housing Authority, School Resource Officer, Special Operations Unit, or others. Work is performed according to established policies and procedures; therefore, a Police Officer must be able to exercise sound judgment, especially in emergency situations. Work requires tactful, conscientiousness, effective and efficient performance of duties with minimum supervision and contains a substantial element of personal risk. An employee in this position may be required to use force to affect an arrest, protect him or herself, or protect others. Requirements Applicants must be 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. and a valid Georgia driver’s license.
