Occupational Therapist PRN

VCU Tappahannock Hospital nestled in the scenic Middle Peninsula and serving the Northern Neck region is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist PRN. This position is crucial for providing high-quality care to our community ensuring that patients receive comprehensive evaluations treatment planning and education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Evaluation and Treatment:
• Conduct thorough evaluations of referred patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide discharge planning patient/family education and recommendations for follow-up care.
• Documentation:
• Accurately document evaluation results and services provided.
• Adhere to hospital and department guidelines for documentation.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
• Participate as a member of both self-directed departmental and interdisciplinary patient care teams.
• Engage in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to goal setting for routine diagnoses.
• Clinical Instruction and Training:
• Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students.
• Offer training and education to department and hospital staff.
• Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervise Rehab Technicians COTA staff volunteers and students during clinical rotations.

Qualifications:

• Licensure Certification or Registration:
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia.
• CPR Certification if required by the clinic or practice area.
• Experience:
• REQUIRED: New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
• PREFERRED: Prior experience in a similar healthcare facility.
• Education/Training:
• REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
• PREFERRED: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
• Skills and Attributes:
• Ability to evaluate and treat patients with routine diagnoses.
• Competence in setting schedules managing time and completing documentation.
• Effective interaction with interdisciplinary teams and self-directed work teams.
• Customer service skills for interacting with patients and families.
