We stand in the light to revolutionize the conversation around abortion in this country.Independent abortion providers like Whole Woman's Health Alliance provide over 60% of abortions in the United States and are committed to providing abortion care, regardless of barriers. We do this because we believe safe, affordable, quality abortion care should be accessible to all.The Patient Advocate position allows for further training in the medical areas of the office which do not require medical certification or licensure. These tasks may include pathology, lab, set-up, running rooms, assisting in recovery, ultrasounds and assisting in Gyn sessions as directed. The Patient Advocate plays a key role in the practice as they may interact with the patient in many areas and their knowledge of office systems and the medical practice can contribute very positively to patient satisfaction and the success of the practice.Essential FunctionsPerform receptionist duties including answering phones and managing the front deskIntake and dischargeCounting money/making deposits and computer skills.Gyn AssistantPrepare charts for practitioner reviewInterview patientsSet patients up for examsAssist the practitioner during examsCollect samples, run routine tests and take vital signsPathology TechnicianSterilizing instrumentsVerifying completed abortion procedures via pathology examinationSurgical AssistantServing as a surgical assistantAnticipating the doctor's needsSupplying the doctor with the necessary instruments and medications to complete the procedureServing as support to the patient, offering her comfort throughout her abortion procedure.Set Up/Assist/RecoverPreparing procedure rooms for patientsCleaning and stocking roomsShowing patients to the procedure rooms before the doctor enters, and helping them feel as comfortable as possibleStarting IVsKeeping track of the session—who has been seen, who has not, anticipating the "flow" of patientsRecovering patients post-ab, including taking vital signs, cleaning them up, assisting them in dressing, escorting them to recovery room.Lab TechnicianCollecting blood samplesRunning testsTaking vital signsServing as a point of patient education regarding test results and what they mean.UltrasonographyPerform pre-op sonograms on all patients presenting for abortion servicesLearn both vaginal and abdominal scan techniquesUnderstand how to comfort patients and respond to emotional issuesExperience and General RequirementsPeople skills Organizational and time management skillsAn interest in women's health and a commitment to the welfare of the "whole" womanAn interest in all areas of the practice: administrative ("front"), financial, medical, counseling, customer service, etc. Problem solvingFollow-through and thoroughnessWritten and verbal communication skills: direct, prompt and effective Medical Record knowledgeComputer skillsSkill with numbers, counting and detailed record keepingAbility to take directionAbility to ask questions and participate fully in learning process.Flexibility, multitasking and willingness to learn and "go anywhere" s/he's needed.Ideal candidate:Will be Bilingual – English and SpanishHas a four year Bachelor's degree (students currently enrolled in college also qualify)Prefers not to do the same thing every dayIs flexible and cooperativeLoves to learn new things, jumps in and asks questions, participates actively in the learning processAdditional Requirements:Basic Life Support Certification biannuallyAnnual OSHA and PPE in-service trainingIn-Person Work RequirementsFor positions based in a clinic or office setting, team members play an essential role in creating a supportive, collaborative, and safe environment for patients and colleagues.In-Person Work Expectations:Ability to perform job duties on-site, which may include sitting, standing, walking, or lifting up to 20 lbs as needed.Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance during scheduled work hours.Uphold safety and confidentiality standards in all work areas.Engage respectfully and compassionately with patients, visitors, and team members.Adapt to a dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism and composure.Willingness to use new technologies or communication tools to support workflow and collaboration.Compensation/BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience.401(k) plan with 3% company match.Flexible scheduling and strong family support programs.A mission-driven, inclusive, and supportive culture centered around compassion, equity, and advocacy.Additional perks including employee discounts and virtual team-building activities.Additional Benefits for Full-Time Staff:Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus voluntary life and disability coverage.Employee Assistance Program (EAP): 24/7 confidential support including mental health counseling, legal and financial resources, and wellness programs.
