Staff Satellite Electro-Mechanical Engineer

Why this role is important The Staff Satellite Electro-Mechanical Engineer will participate in the development, building, and testing of hardware for E-Space satellites including PCBs, harnesses, mechatronics, etc. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering with at least 5 years of electro-mechanical design including harnessing and PCB mechanical work. This position will report to the Electro-Mechanical Engineering Manager and will work closely with the Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering teams. The successful candidate will be based in our Saratoga, CA office. What you’ll be doing: Work with various engineering disciplines on the development of spacecraft electronics packaging and interconnect system including wire harnesses, high speed connections, FPCs and PCBs. End to end ownership of electronics packaging design including 3D design, drawing creation, prototyping, and manufacturing support. Design for thermal management and support thermal analysis. Interface with mechanical, thermal, and systems engineering on ICD design, testing, and assembly. What you bring to this role: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar. 10+ years of experience in electro-mechanical engineering. Skilled with CAD and harness design tools. Experience with rigid and flex PCB technologies, packaging, and interconnect. Experience with module packaging including integrating PCBs and wire harnesses into enclosures. Familiarity with harness design best practices including applicable IPC standards. Experienced with production level DFx and FMEA. Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment. Bonus points for the following: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar. Experience with Solidworks and Zuken or similar. Familiarity with NASA, ECSS, or SAE standards for PCB and harness design and manufacturing. Experience performing thermal analysis in Thermal Desktop, IcePak, Comsol, or similar tools. Experience with coax cable and RF signal basics. Experience with Altium Designer or other PCB design tools. Experience designing for space environments. Employment Details This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
