This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that's constantly evolving.Position PurposeThe Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Grocery Department. This role helps ensure exceptional customer service, proper merchandising, inventory management, food safety compliance, and achievement of sales and profitability goals. The Assistant Grocery Manager leads associates, promotes a positive work environment, and ensures department standards are consistently maintained.Key Responsibilities Department OperationsAssist in directing daily Grocery Department operations to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.Support execution of merchandising plans, promotional displays, and seasonal programs.Monitor product quality, freshness, and shelf conditions throughout the department.Ensure proper stock levels are maintained to support sales and customer demand.Help manage department expenses, shrink, and inventory controls.Ensure accurate pricing and signage throughout the department.Leadership & Team DevelopmentAssist with hiring, onboarding, training, and developing department associates.Provide daily direction and coaching to team members.Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and customer service excellence.Assist in scheduling associates to meet operational needs and labor goals.Support performance management initiatives and corrective action processes as needed.Lead the department in the Grocery Manager's absence.Inventory & MerchandisingAssist with ordering, receiving, and inventory management activities.Monitor inventory levels and identify opportunities to improve in-stock conditions.Ensure proper product rotation utilizing first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures.Maintain attractive and fully stocked displays to maximize sales.Review department reports and assist in executing action plans to improve performance.Customer ServiceDeliver exceptional customer service and respond promptly to customer concerns.Ensure associates provide a welcoming and helpful shopping experience.Resolve customer issues professionally and effectively.Foster strong community and customer relationships.Safety & ComplianceMaintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Support inventory count processes and audit readiness.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe department environment.We also provide a variety of benefits including:Competitive wages paid weeklyAccess to up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, via our partnership with StreamAssociate discountsHealth and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401k and more!)Time off (vacation, holidays, sick pay).
