Job Title Senior Psychologist (Specialist) – Neuropsychologist – Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH) Key Details Classification: Senior Psychologist (Health Facility) (Specialist) Salary Range: $10,828.00 – $13,937.00 per month Location: San Luis Obispo County, Atascadero # of Positions: 3 Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Telework: Hybrid / Telework may be available after required training Work Area: Secured Treatment Area (STA) Responsibilities Provide centralized, hospital-wide neuropsychological assessment of patients by referral from treatment teams and unit psychologists. Conduct medical chart reviews and clinical neuropsychological patient interviews. Diagnose neuropsychological impairment and develop patient‑specific clinical management interventions. Communicate evaluation results via written reports and, as needed, oral presentations. Continuously assess neuropsychological instruments used in practice. Consult on neuropsychological evaluations and rehabilitation planning. Support and consult with the Psychology Department, hospital administration, and other staff regarding the Neuropsychology Service. Provide cognitive remediation treatment and training to patients in one‑on‑one or group settings. Offer advanced training in selection, administration, and interpretation of neuropsychological assessment procedures. Assist with the development of aggregate databases for neuropsychological assessment and cognitive screening data. Working Conditions Work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA). Telework and alternate schedules may be available after required training. Minimum Requirements Eligibility by certification list, transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility is required. Candidates must meet minimum qualifications specified in the classification specification. Desirable Qualifications Postdoctoral training and experience conducting neuropsychological assessments in forensic or acute inpatient settings. Experience with culturally informed neuropsychological assessments. Experience with cognitive remediation for patients in forensic contexts. Spanish–bilingual ability is highly desirable. Earned doctorate in clinical psychology. Two‑year formal postdoctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology. Valid psychologist license in California (unlicensed candidates may be appointed with a license obtained within five years). Benefits Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
