Custodian

CustodianImmaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore, Texas, is seeking to hire a qualified part-time Custodian. This is a part-time position (between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Mondays and Fridays) scheduled for not more than 4 hours per week. Also, occasionally as needed for unexpected events on unscheduled days for an additional 1.5 hours. The primary purpose of this position is to keep buildings clean and in an orderly condition.Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of the Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal lifeAct as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchContinually grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, trainings sessions, and reflection activities as directedMaintains cleanliness and sanitation in all areas of the church and other buildings on parish property; and ensures all buildings are secured at the end of each business dayPerforms routine general maintenance activitiesPerforms heavy cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, scrubbing, and wiping surfaces, emptying trash, dusting, and washing screensSanitizes restrooms and high-touch surfacesUses cleaning solutions and work with chemicals carefully following instructionsNotifies Priest or Office Manager regarding the need for maintenance repairs or damages immediately and supply needsPerforms other duties as assignedStrong organizational skills to finish tasks efficiently and in a timely mannerAbility to manage duties effectively and tactfullyAbility to work in various weather conditions (heat, cold)Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 15 pounds or moreAbility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb (step ladder), kneel, reach for extended periods of timeAbility to perform repetitive hand motions for long periods of timeAbility to work with cleaning chemicals and general maintenance equipmentAbility to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stressMaintain confidentialityQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentValid Texas driver's licenseReliable, honest, and trustworthyAbility to work with little supervision, manage time efficiently and maintain a high level of performance.Strong attention to detailKnowledge of standard cleaning chemicals and sanitization proceduresExperience with using cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners, and cleaning solutions.Additional Requirements:Must successfully complete pre-employment screening this includes a criminal history background check provided by the Diocese of Corpus ChristiCertification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources (renewed every 3 years)Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
