The Project controls in construction involve the processes and procedures used to manage a project's time, cost, and quality. In essence, project controls act as the project's "navigational system", providing the project manager with the information needed to keep the project on course, within budget, and on schedule.

- Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain a realistic project schedule. Monitor progress against the schedule. Identify and manage potential delays. Forecast completion dates.
- Cost Management: Develop and manage project budgets. Track project expenditures and performance. Measure variances from the budget. Forecast project costs.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues. Assess the impact of risks. Develop and implement mitigation plans. Monitor and report on risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Change Management: Establish processes for managing scope changes. Evaluate the impact of changes on the project schedule and budget. Ensure that changes are approved and documented.
- Reporting & Analysis: Develop and deliver project status reports. Analyze project data to identify trends and potential problems. Provide recommendations to the project team based on data analysis.

- Data Gathering & Analysis: Collect and analyze project data related to schedule, cost, and risk.
- Forecasting: Predict potential project outcomes based on current performance and trends.
- Communication: Communicate project status and potential issues to the project team and stakeholders.
- Document Control: Maintain accurate project documentation.
