Emergency Room Nurse (RN)

Job Details

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room, requiring evening shifts with a length of 12 hours. A commitment of 36 hours per week is guaranteed, involving 6 weekend shifts over a 6-week rotation.

Unit Information

Working within a dynamic Emergency Room unit that includes:

• 12 patient beds plus 1 triage room
• A fast track area included in the 12 rooms
• Intermixed ER holds, with a transfer goal of 3 hours
• 1 psych/seclusion room equipped for safety
• In-house security available 24/7
• An average of 88 patients seen daily
• Staffing ratios of 1:4, with flexibility to 1:6 for Urgent Care patients

Responsibilities

The Emergency Room Nurse will be skilled in:

• Managing patient care in a fast-paced environment
• Performing triage duties, including assessing patient needs
• Collaborating with medical staff, including 1-2 physicians on site
• Utilizing EPIC for electronic medical records
• Conducting nursing assessments and interventions
• Drawing blood and performing necessary lab tests

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Two years of recent experience in an Emergency Room setting
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, NRP, PALS, TNCC

Shifts and Scheduling

The position involves 12-hour shifts with rotations every 6 weeks. nurses are expected to meet holiday requirements of 1 major holiday in the summer and 1 in the winter.

Additional Information

The unit provides specific orientation, including 1-2 shifts of shadowing and online modules. Floating may occur within the Federal Services Emergency Departments, with volunteers given priority.
