Surgical Technologist - Regional Supplemental Staffing III

Position Objective This position provides direct patient care and functions as a resource person for one or more specialties, while demonstrating basic patient care concepts, surgical asepsis and basic surgical case preparation. Essential Job Duties Maintains a safe environment for patient and the O.R. team by assuring a sterile environment and using equipment according to operating room manual. Transports patients and specialty equipment in accordance with safety policy. Provides patient care during intra‑operative phase using physician preference cards and organizes and prioritizes care activities based on patient and environmental changes. Functions as a first scrub in various cases (e.g., general/GYN, ENT, plastics, basic/minor orthopedics/neurosurgery, dental/orthopedics, urology/cystoscopy, basic vascular procedures) and demonstrates proper care of instrumentation including cleaning and sterilization of surgical equipment. Performs surgical skills independently: opening surgical supplies, gowning and gloving all members of the surgical team, basic positioning of patient, between‑case cleaning, terminal cleaning of ORs and surgical suite, and performs circulating skills and tasks as directed. Educational/Experience Requirements Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program or its equivalent. Employed for a minimum of 3 years at AAMC or have a minimum of 3 years of surgical technology experience. Required Licenses & Certifications Surgical Technologist certification. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS. Working Conditions & Physical Demands Employees in this position may be exposed to blood‑borne pathogens.
