A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) provides advanced neonatal care during nighttime shifts, including delivery attendance and post-birth stabilization, well newborn care, and intensive monitoring. This role requires demonstrated competence in high-acuity neonatal skills, including respiratory support and invasive line management. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36.0 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications; completion of Registered Nurse education requirements; 0.0 years of minimum experience requirement; ability to chart in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systemsEPIC; experience providing neonatal intensive care is required to meet the role expectations (minimum 2 years of NICU experience mentioned in the posting); flu vaccination requirement consistent with medical or religious exemptions; must meet all listed role certifications and qualifications.
• Preferred Qualifications: Neonatal nursing experience in STABLE (as specified in the posting) and prior Epic experience (noted as preferred in the posting).
• Responsibilities: Provide care for high-risk deliveries and stabilize newborns; deliver well newborn care and support developmentally appropriate care; perform continuous monitoring and bedside assessments, including telemetry on the unit monitoring; manage respiratory support therapies including Bubble CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP); support phototherapy and hyperbilirubinemia management; manage feeding plans including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings; place, manage, and maintain oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes; perform or assist with invasive procedures and monitoring, including arterial line management, central line blood draw, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, Starting and maintaining IVs, UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter), UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter), and arterial and venous puncture blood gas collection; provide isolation precautions and follow Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols; administer medications and therapies including antibiotics/antivirals, anti-seizure medications, surfactants, steroids, and neonatal dosage calculations; provide care related to neonatal sepsis and Sepsis Work Up, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and assist with lumbar puncture; support breastfeeding, including handling breast milk; participate in patient/family teaching and support thermoregulation.
• Float: Well baby nursery coverage is included, with attendance at deliveries on Labor and Delivery (L&D). Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed.
• Call: Two (2) 12-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Weekend Coverage: Four weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday and/or Saturday night) AND two Sunday nights per 6-week schedule.
• Additional Information: RTO is restricted to no more than 7 days. Guaranteed scheduling is provided as 3 shifts per 13 weeks, with cancelled shifts expected to be the regular shift length assigned. Scrub color is navy blue for charge nurses and transition/baby catcher nurses only. Charting is performed in EPIC.
