About the Opportunity


A well-established organization is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join its HR and payroll team in Morgantown. This position is responsible for supporting payroll operations across multiple business units and states while helping ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

This is a great opportunity for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working with data, solving problems, maintaining accurate records, and assisting employees with payroll and HR-related questions.

What You'll Do

Payroll Processing

• Support semi-monthly payroll processing for non-union employees
• Assist with weekly payroll processing for assigned union employees during the transition and training process
• Maintain accurate payroll records within payroll and ERP systems
• Process employee changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, pay rate changes, and transfers
• Review payroll information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies

Payroll Compliance & Reporting

• Assist with payroll tax reporting and compliance requirements
• Process and maintain records related to garnishments, tax levies, unemployment claims, and other payroll notices
• Maintain payroll documentation in accordance with federal and state requirements
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed
• Help ensure payroll deadlines and compliance requirements are consistently met

Benefits & 401(k) Administration

• Assist with employee 401(k) enrollment and changes
• Process payroll-related benefit and contribution updates
• Assist with union benefits and vacation accruals
• Help maintain accurate employee benefit and payroll records

HR & Administrative Support

• Assist with new job postings and recruiting-related administrative tasks
• Help coordinate pre-employment screening processes
• Assist with onboarding-related activities
• Support office supply procurement and other administrative needs as needed
• Provide professional and responsive support to employees and office administrators

What We're Looking For

• Previous payroll experience required
• Experience with multi-state payroll and/or union payroll is a plus
• Working knowledge of payroll compliance, garnishments, benefits, and 401(k) administration
• Experience with payroll software; iSolved experience is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to explain payroll information clearly to employees and management
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a small HR/payroll team while supporting multiple locations
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential employee information
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
