POWER Testing And Energization (PTE) Lead P&C Field Services TechnicianWSP is currently seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Lead P&C Field Services Technician for our project locations in Maine, New York, North Carolina, and Florida. Examples of relays to be tested are SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60 among othersIndependently execute and validate advanced protection and control testing sequences, ensuring alignment with test plans, applicable standards, and client specificationsFollow safety protocols and participate in daily safety briefings and job hazard assessmentsUse field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications to document site activitiesPerform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directedAct as a primary field liaison with clients, contractors, vendors, and project managers to communicate progress, risks, and technical concernsApply expert knowledge of field instrumentation and troubleshoot technical issues with minimal supervisionLead field implementation of site-specific health and safety protocols, job hazard analyses, and quality control proceduresLead field crews, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring consistency across work streamsMentor junior and mid-level technicians in technical procedures, safety practices, and proper documentationSupport corrective actions by troubleshooting equipment or procedural proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You AreRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 11 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including experience in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testingDemonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, or distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families) and protective schemesAdvanced technical skills related to protective relays, including relay calibration utilizing test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, testing of the sensing CT/PT circuits, ability to upload settings to microprocessor relays, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relaysProven experience with electrical field testing standards, practices, and procedures, such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA applicable standardsExpert knowledge of testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects with voltage levels ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV, including protective relays and circuit breakersStrong understanding of technical software used for testing purposes and data review: ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator QuicksetDemonstrable ability to identify and respond to field challenges and equipment malfunctionsAdvanced skill in preparing field logs, sketches, and digital reportsPhysical stamina to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.Significant experience collaborating with contractors, technicians, and engineersDemonstrated commitment to field safety, quality, and regulatory complianceStrong verbal and written communication skills for field team collaborationCapability to support a wide variety of tasks in dynamic or changing environmentsAbility to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and maintain
