In this role, you will be responsible for safe, reliable, and continuous lithium carbonate manufacturing operations by maintaining and repairing critical mechanical equipment. This role directly impacts plant availability, production efficiency, and safety by executing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance in compliance with company standards. Occasional travel other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms all maintenance activities with a strong safety-first mindset, ensuring strict compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations along with site specific safety standards; actively identifies and mitigates observed hazards, conducts regular safety inspections of assigned areas, and fosters a culture where safe work practices and personal accountability are non-negotiable. Champions site safety standards and promotes open communication within group.Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical processing equipment including crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, pumps, gearboxes, thickeners, and associated systemsMaintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rotating equipment, bearings, shafts, belts, chains, couplings, and drive componentsTroubleshoot mechanical failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve reliabilityDismantle, repair, rebuild, and reassemble mechanical components using hand and power toolsPerform precision maintenance tasks including alignment, lubrication, torquing, and vibration checksRead, interpret, and apply mechanical drawings, schematics, maintenance manuals, and technical documentationConduct routine equipment inspections and accurately document work performed and findings in maintenance management systemsCoordinate maintenance activities with operations, electrical teams, and supervisors to support production schedulesAssist with equipment installations, upgrades, shutdowns, and turnaround maintenance activitiesMaintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas in accordance with MSHA housekeeping standardsParticipate in safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), hazard assessments, and pre-task planningImmediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, and equipment defectsComply with all MSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and fall protection proceduresBuilds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and ValuesPerform other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsMinimum of 2–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in mining, chemical manufacturing, or heavy industrial processing environmentsWorking knowledge of rotating equipment and industrial mechanical systemsExperience in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on process plant equipmentProficiency with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instrumentsWelding and/or fabrication experienceExperience with pump and motor alignmentAbility to work safely in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and site safety standardsAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teamAbility to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as requiredPhysically capable of lifting 50–75 lbs., climbing ladders and stairs, working at heights, and in confined spacesPersonal commitment to Lithium Americas’ Purpose, Vision, and ValuesWorking at Lithium AmericasAt Lithium Americas, we believe our people are our most valuable asset.
