Civil ForemanPosition Summary
The Civil Electrical Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising crews performing civil and electrical infrastructure work while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to company quality standards. This position coordinates daily field operations, manages manpower and equipment, interprets construction drawings, and serves as the primary point of contact between field personnel and project management.
The Civil Electrical Foreman is expected to lead by example, promote a culture of safety, maintain high-quality workmanship, and develop employees while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Supervision- Direct and supervise civil electrical crews on assigned projects.
- Assign daily work activities based on project schedules and priorities.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members.
- Conduct daily jobsite safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and professionalism among crew members.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Oversee excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and site restoration.
- Supervise installation of underground electrical conduit systems.
- Coordinate installation of duct banks, pull boxes, handholes, and vaults.
- Ensure proper placement of concrete foundations, transformer pads, and equipment bases.
- Coordinate utility locating and excavation activities.
- Verify trench depths, conduit spacing, and compaction requirements.
- Supervise installation of:
- Underground primary and secondary power systems
- Street lighting systems
- Site lighting
- Commercial service installations
- Distribution equipment
- Transformers
- Switchgear
- Grounding systems
- Review electrical drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate cable pulling and termination activities.
- Verify installations comply with NEC, local codes, utility standards, and project specifications.
- Review project plans before beginning work.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, subcontractors, and customers.
- Identify scheduling conflicts before they impact production.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Order materials and equipment as needed.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of company equipment.
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Ensure all employees wear required PPE.
- Perform routine jobsite safety inspections.
- Stop unsafe work immediately.
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly.
- Ensure trench safety requirements are followed, including proper shoring, shielding, or sloping.
- Verify all work meets project specifications.
- Inspect completed work prior to requesting inspections.
- Minimize rework through proactive quality checks.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
- Complete daily production reports.
- Submit employee time accurately.
- Track labor hours and productivity.
- Document material usage.
- Report delays, change orders, and field issues.
- Maintain accurate project documentation.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of civil/electrical construction experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading field crews.
- Strong understanding of:
- Underground utilities
- Commercial electrical construction
- Civil site work
- Utility construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Journeyman Electrician License (where applicable).
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Equipment operating experience.
- Utility construction experience.
- Experience with GPS layout or surveying equipment.
- CDL (preferred but not required).
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

- Ability to safely enter trenches and excavations when permitted.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel as project needs require.

- Company trucks and trailers

This position primarily works outdoors on active construction sites and may involve exposure to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, energized electrical systems, uneven terrain, dust, heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions typical of commercial and industrial construction.
