As a Finance Intern at MacLean-Fogg , you will connect what you are learning in the classroom with the financial decisions behind a manufacturing business. You will work with finance and accounting professionals to understand business performance, check financial information, and help teams make informed decisions.

You will take ownership of a meaningful project with guidance from an experienced team. Depending on your assignment, you might investigate spending trends, improve a financial report, support a budgeting process, analyze product costs, or make a recurring task more accurate and efficient. At the end of the program, you will present your work, findings, and recommendations to leadership.

Finance Areas You Could Explore

Assignments vary by location and may include:

• Accounting and Financial Reporting: Help organize supporting information, reconcile records, and prepare reports used to understand business results.

• Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Analysis: Compare actual results with plans, investigate differences, and help explain trends.

• Cost and Manufacturing Finance: Explore how materials, labor, inventory, and operating decisions affect costs and performance.

You do not need experience in every area. Your assignment will reflect the work available at your location and the support you need to learn.

What You Will Do

• Gather, organize, and check financial or operating information for completeness and accuracy.

• Use spreadsheets and other tools to analyze information and explain what you find.

• Support finance and accounting activities while learning how they connect to the business.

• Ask questions, investigate differences, and seek guidance when information does not make sense.

• Work with colleagues in Finance and other departments to understand their needs.

• Handle confidential information carefully and follow established review and approval processes.

• Complete a defined project and share practical findings and recommendations.

What You Bring

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or a closely related business discipline with relevant coursework.

• Interest in understanding financial information and how a manufacturing business operates.

• Basic familiarity with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools through coursework, projects, or work.

• Willingness to learn, ask questions, check your work, and follow through on commitments.

• Ability to work full time and on site for the internship, with limited start-date flexibility for academic calendars.

All college class levels are welcome. Previous internship experience is not required. Coursework, student activities, personal projects, volunteering, and any type of employment can demonstrate your potential.

Helpful, but Not Required

• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Coursework or projects involving accounting, financial analysis, economics, statistics, or business data.

• Experience using spreadsheet formulas, charts, pivot tables, or lookup functions.

• Experience organizing information, managing a student-organization budget, improving a process, or explaining a recommendation.

You do not need prior manufacturing experience or knowledge of our financial systems. We will help you learn the tools and processes used in your assignment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands below represent those required to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Sit at a workstation and use a computer for extended periods.

• Move throughout manufacturing areas to observe equipment, processes, and production activities.

• Occasionally lift and carry tools, samples, or parts weighing up to 30 pounds.

• Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when observing equipment or components.

• Review drawings, gauges, measurement equipment, and other visual information.

• Wear required personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

• Work in office and manufacturing environments where noise, temperature variation, and airborne particulates may be present.

What to Expect After Applying

Our hiring process includes an application, Criteria assessments, application and assessment review, a recruiter screen, and a 45-minute interview with the hiring team. Candidates selected for an offer receive a conditional offer followed by required pre-employment screening before hire.
