TITLE: SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY ASSISTANT

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current licensure as a Speech/Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Arizona. Hearing Handicapped certification and Sign Language desirable. Alternative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Speech/Language Pathologist, teachers, special education teachers. JOB GOAL: To provide speech and language intervention services to identified students. Performance Responsibilities Implement intervention programs to remediate deficit speech/language skills of identified students. Conduct speech and language screenings. Conduct speech, language therapeutic programs in accord with instructional plans. Act as advisor to teachers regarding speech and language disorders. Progress monitor students and give input as to progress and needs to support student mastery of IEP goals. Provide in-service information to staff. Conduct daily/weekly schedule effectively. Demonstrate knowledge of State and Federal special education rules and regulations and how they impact District procedures and policies. Continue professional growth through involvement in course work, in-service, and participation in professional conferences appropriate to the field of speech and language therapy. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Terms of Employment 1488 hours/year. Hourly rate and workdays established by the Board. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Staff.
