Patient Services Specialist

Patient Services Specialist Location: Glendora, CA Pay: $21‑23/hour Work Environment: Busy outpatient physical therapy clinic with a high-volume, patient-facing front desk. Business casual dress code. Fully on-site role. Schedule: 5 days/week rotating schedule: 2 days: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; 3 days: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Compensation and Benefits: Pay Rate: $21‑23/hour Duration: 5 months (Contract-to-Hire) Medical, Dental, Vision Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital coverage 401(k) Retirement Plan (Pre tax and Roth post tax contributions available) Voluntary Life & AD&D (employee + dependents) Short term and long term disability Health Spending Account (HSA) Transportation benefits Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Time Off / Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) About the Role We are seeking a professional and customer‑focused Patient Services Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for patients in a fast‑paced healthcare setting. This role is responsible for managing front desk operations, supporting patient scheduling, verifying insurance, and ensuring a positive patient experience from check‑in through check‑out. Key Responsibilities Greet patients warmly with professionalism and positive communication; Register new patients and guide them through onboarding paperwork; Verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations; Collect co‑pays and manage financial interactions; Schedule, confirm, and follow up on patient appointments; Answer phones, manage voicemails, and address patient inquiries; Maintain accurate patient demographics in EMR systems; Support end‑of‑day reconciliation and ensure accurate charge entry; Deliver excellent customer service both in‑person and over the phone. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 1+ year of experience in a medical front desk or healthcare setting; Experience with insurance verification and authorization processes; Strong multitasking skills in a fast‑paced environment; Excellent communication and customer service skills; Strong computer proficiency and comfort working in EMR systems. Top Skills – Must Haves Medical front desk experience; Customer service in a high‑volume environment; Insurance verification & authorizations; Patient scheduling and check‑in/out; Co‑pay collection; EMR systems experience. Nice to Have Skills Bilingual Spanish/English; Experience in outpatient or physical therapy clinics; Familiarity with Therapy Source or Rehab Toolkit. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendora, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
