Job Description
Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves providing comprehensive emergency medical services to patients of all ages, ensuring high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, maintaining safety and comfort.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff to meet patient needs.
• Monitor patient conditions and report any changes to the medical team.
• Float to other units and hospitals as needed to provide patient care.
• Participate in patient charting and documentation utilizing the Meditech system.
• Adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures, including responding to critical care situations.
• Take part in additional training and educational opportunities as required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required; however, candidates with 18 months of experience working under the highest level of professional license will be considered.
• At least 1 year of experience in the emergency field is mandatory.
• An Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree is required.
• Current certifications in AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC are mandatory.
• A valid nursing license in Alabama or a Compact License is required; temporary licenses are not accepted.

Working Conditions

• This position involves working 11a-11p shifts, including every other weekend and holidays as required.
• Shifts of 36 or 48 hours per week are available, with the possibility of block scheduling for specific days.
• The nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical patients to 1:3-4 for other patients.
• Potential for 4 shifts to be canceled during the contract period with no penalty.
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation will be a part of the initial onboarding process.
• Overtime is applicable after 48 hours, regardless of weekly hours worked.

Additional Information

• All candidates must successfully pass a Dysrhythmia Basic exam during onboarding; candidates are allowed two attempts.
• On the first day of employment, candidates will complete a Validation Cardiac Dys Exam, which is pass/fail. Failure to pass will result in immediate termination of the contract.
• The facility serves a diverse population and treats over 60,000 patients annually, functioning as a Level III Trauma Center and a Level II Stroke Center.
