Registered Nurse - ED

$35.52 - $52.39 per hour

Valleywise Health System

Valleywise Health, a Level One Trauma Center, is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Emergency Department (ED) Nurse to join our fast-paced team. As an ED Nurse, you will provide immediate, high-quality care to patients experiencing a wide range of medical emergencies. You will be responsible for rapid assessments, critical interventions, and stabilization, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver life-saving treatment in a high-pressure environment.

Hourly Pay Rate: $35.52 - $52.39

This is a PM shift and offers an 18% shift differential on weekdays and 26% on weekends

Qualifications

Education:
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing.
Experience:
  • Must have at least one (1) year of recent acute care hospital RN experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or if completed the New Grad RN program at Valleywise Health then must have at least one (1) year of Valleywise Health experience as a RN and be in good standing.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, temporary AZ RN license, or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
  • Requires a BLS card obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
  • In addition, certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice:
    • Ambulatory/Specialty Clinics: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Angio Suite (Interventional Radiology): Must have ACLS at time of hire and PALS within 90 days of hire or transfer.
    • Antepartum Testing Center: Must have an Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification upon hire or transfer. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Burn Center Med Surg Adult: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. You must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
    • Burn Center Med Surg Peds: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. You must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
    • Burn Center ICU: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. You must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
    • Burn Center Emergency: Must have ACLS and PALS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
    • Burn Center Clinic: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. You must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
    • Cardio/Pulmonary Clinic: Must have ACLS within (6) months of hire or transfer.
    • Cath Lab: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer.
    • Critical Care: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Must obtain TNCC, ATCN, or TCAR within twelve (12) months of hire or transfer. Critical Care Certified Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
    • Critical Care Stepdown: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Progressive Care Nursing Certification (PCCN) preferred.
    • Dialysis Inpatient & Phoenix Campus: Must have a minimum of two (2) years' dialysis experience. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • ED - Roosevelt: Must have ACLS and PALS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain ATCN or TNCC within twelve (12) months and ENPC within twelve (12) months. Must obtain the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Pediatric Certified Emergency Nurse (PCEN), or Trauma Certified Emergency Nurse (TCRN) is preferred.
    • ED - Maryvale: Must have ACLS and PALS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain ATCN or TNCC within twelve (12) months and ENPC within twelve (12) months. Must obtain the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Pediatric Certified Emergency Nurse (PCEN), or Trauma Certified Emergency Nurse (TCRN) is preferred.
    • ENDO: Must obtain ACLS and PALS within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) certification is preferred.
    • FQHC Primary Care: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • L&D: Must have ACLS and NRP upon hire or within six (6) months of hire or transfer if new grad/new to service. New grad/new to service RN, complete AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within twelve (12) months of hire. Experienced L&D RN, obtain AWHONN Fetal Monitoring within six (6) months of hire. AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring must be completed after two (2) years of L&D experience. AWHONN Fetal Monitoring will be renewed every two (2) years.
    • IRP: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Additional certifications may be required to work in specialty areas.
    • McDowell Clinic: Must obtain an HIV certification required within thirty (30) months of hire or transfer. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Medical Oncology Ortho: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain an ONS (Chemotherapy Biotherapy Card) within twelve (12) months of hire or transfer.
    • NICU: Must have NRP upon hire or within six (6) months of hire or transfer for new grads/new to service.
    • Nursing Float Pool: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Additional certifications may be required to work in specialty areas.
    • Observation-Roosevelt: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer.
    • Oncology Clinic: Must obtain an ONS (Chemotherapy Biotherapy Card) within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
    • OR (other than Peoria): CNOR certification is preferred. Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer.
    • OR (Peoria): Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card. CNOR certification is preferred. Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer.
    • PEC Dialysis: A minimum of two (2) years dialysis experience is preferred. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • PreOp/PACU (Other than Peoria): Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer. Must obtain TCAR and PCAR within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer.
    • PreOp/PACU (Peoria): Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. You must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of your hire date. Must present an actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card. Must obtain ACLS and PALS within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer.
    • PICU: Must have PALS and NRP upon hire or transfer or within six (6) months if new grad/new to service. Must obtain ATCN, TNCC, or PCAR within twelve (12) months. PCAR is preferred.
    • Peds Acute: Must have PALS and NRP upon hire or within six (6) months of hire or transfer for new grad/new to service.
    • Post Partum: Must have ACLS and NRP upon hire or within six (6) months of hire or transfer for new grad/new to service.
    • Surgical Trauma: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication, time management and customer service skills.
  • Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g. formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to be able to successfully navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
