Fusion Medical Staffing‑Nursing is seeking a Travel Nurse RN OR – Operating Room for a travel nursing assignment in Newark, Delaware. Job Details Period: 10 weeks (starting 07/21/2026) Hours: 40 per week, 8‑hour day shifts Employment type: Travel Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications OR Nursing Certification (CNOR) Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Job Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during surgical procedures. Essential Work Functions Prepare the operating room, ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready for each surgical procedure. Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements. Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow. Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols. Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results. Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly. Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards. Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Required Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions and PC skills. Physical stamina to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel with a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/motor skills to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures or equipment. Mental resilience to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers under pressure and occasional close supervision. Sensory acuity for visual tasks and effective communication.
