Work Shift Day (United States of America) Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care; coordinate care through partnerships and cultural diversity considerations. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care; promote respectful, inclusive communication and fiscal responsibility; support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance. Professional Development and Initiative: Complete all professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education; serve as preceptor or mentor to nurses, staff, and students to build a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promote evidence-based practice and nursing research; participate in value analysis, data collection, and use of experts and resources to address clinical questions; uphold all system policies, legal, regulatory and accreditation standards such as TJC Patient Safety Goals.
