Registered Respiratory Therapist Location: Omaha, NE Agency: SnapCare Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Rotating Contract Duration: 1 Weeks Start Date: ASAP Responsibilities Provide quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed within the scope of the professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluate patients and recommend a treatment plan. Explain the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide necessary education upon discharge to home. Conduct physician‑prescribed treatments of a routine nature by operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non‑invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation and oxygenation. Perform chest physiotherapy by operating equipment to promote secretion clearance. Perform suctioning of the patient by oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods. Perform oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy. Perform routine review of patient’s chest X‑rays to determine need for further evaluation. Perform 12‑Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition. Perform pulmonary function studies according to policy (e.g., NIF, VC). Assist with procedures related to respiratory care such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, etc., according to policy. Perform adequate drainage of chest via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable. Perform tracheostomy care according to policy, including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non‑emergent). Perform arterial puncture according to policy and determine efficiency of ventilation, monitoring, recording, and reporting test results. For hospitals with moderate complexity labs: follow all policies and procedures related to laboratory testing including specimen handling, use of equipment, documentation and reporting of results, quality controls and maintenance across pre‑analytic, analytic, and post‑analytic phases. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines. Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free‑hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system. Perform setup and self‑test on all ventilatory equipment as required, operating, maintaining, and monitoring mechanical ventilation on various types of equipment. Assist in facilitating preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as needed. Record all pertinent information of treatments and patient response in respiratory care records and patient chart, including pre‑ and post‑assessment according to policy. Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians concerning the efficiency of therapy administered to the patient. Report all necessary information in hands‑off communication during walking rounds for shift‑to‑shift.
