School Overview

Compass Collegiate Academy (CCA) is a public charter school that opened in Charleston, South Carolina with grades K-1 in August of 2021. Our school is adding a grade each year thereafter until we are a full Kindergarten through 8th grade school. CCA has intentionally built its school model and structured its budget to ensure that the student body is representative of the student population in North Charleston and the Charleston peninsula, the school’s geographic target area. Personalized Learning through Data-Driven Instruction - Through a continuous cycle of assessment, analysis, and action, the school will identify personalized needs to close academic gaps while also differentiating instruction for scholars with more advanced achievement.

Parental Involvement and Intentional Community - The school values families as partners in the academic growth and human development of scholars. Families can expect daily updates on scholar progress, weekly phone communication and availability with a scholar’s teacher, open doors to the school, and access to workshops and seminars on childhood human development. The school will intentionally cultivate a supportive school community among diverse families.

Role Expectations

Responsibilities and Duties:

• The SLP will provide speech therapy services for those students with an IEP at CCA. Services will be for the frequency and duration designated by IEP.
• The SLP will schedule (when SLP Is the case manager) and/or attend IEP meetings as needed in person or virtually, when possible, for referrals, disability determinations, re-evaluations, annual reviews, and special reviews.
• The SLP will coordinate dates, times, and locations for testing with the Special Education Coordinator and/or School Psychologist.
• The SLP will provide a written summary of the results of the testing and any observations when requested by CCA within a 60-day timeline.
• The SLP will provide any and all necessary paperwork and documentation for the services provided to CCA' students in accordance with the South Carolina Public Charter School District special education policies and procedures and in accordance with state and federal special education laws and regulations

The Speech-Language Pathologist will perform other duties as required to achieve the school’s mission.

Education and Experience

• The SLP will hold current South Carolina licensure, ASHA certification, and a state teaching license.

• Expertise and knowledge of applicable SLP laws and procedures.

• Proven track-record of achievement.

• Experience working with a culturally diverse student body preferred.

We are looking for someone approximately two days a week.
