Details Neonatal ICU (NICU) unit within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center Average patient ratio of 1:2-4 Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:00) or Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:00) available 6-week block scheduling that generally does not alternate between day and night shifts within the same week, except during orientation Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Floating within scope required to meet facility needs Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date Current BLS and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with Level III NICU experience strongly preferred Experience with IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs required Central line and implanted line care experience required Phlebotomy skills required Experience with placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal (OG/NG) tube feeds required One professional reference required for consideration Additional Information Care for critically ill neonatal patients in a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center setting Complete a pass/fail medication competency assessment during unit orientation, covering dosage calculations, the Five Rights of Medication Administration, and related skills Travelers should be prepared to independently perform medication calculations Requests for RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved; requests beyond 7 days require additional approval Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted COVID vaccine and booster required unless religious or medical exemption applies First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted Previous perm staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities American Traveler Job ID P-750109.
