Details Labor and Delivery unit in a short-term acute care hospital setting Facility performs 200-300 births per month Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30) Patient ratio of 1:2 Cerner charting system used Required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license required, in hand prior to start BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required ACLS and AWHONN fetal monitoring/C-EFM certifications preferred Minimum 1.5 years of L&D nursing experience required Prior L&D travel experience required Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Cerner EMR experience required Skilled in fetal monitoring including EFM, internal fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement/calibration Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and malpresentations Experience with VBAC management, hemorrhage/shock response, and assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries Experience administering Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, newborn resuscitation, and thermoregulation Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation Two supervisor references required Additional Information Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages Support high-risk deliveries and manage complex obstetric complications Perform newborn assessments, cord care, and initial neonatal care immediately following delivery Administer medications including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives as needed IN residents are considered local candidates First-time travelers are welcome to apply Any prior perm or PRN employment with the health system requires a 12-month break before eligibility as a traveler RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval American Traveler Job ID P-727692.
