Job Description Applies expert knowledge of the data management process to the support of Exchange database management within the IT infrastructure portfolio. The tasks associated with this support may include, but are not limited to reviewing, evaluating, designing, implementing and maintaining corporate databases, identifying data sources, constructing data decomposition and data flow diagrams, writing code for accessing and modifying databases and constructing stored procedures. Responsible for ensuring IT compliance to security, audit policies, and procedures. Monitors and tunes database systems to achieve optimum performance. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and documentation, provides project leadership for the planning and execution of major database projects, and provides guidance and advice to developers and users concerning database capabilities, software, hardware, and procedures. Ensures data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Defines disaster recovery requirements and plans and delivers a disaster recovery solution for the database environment. Coordinates with Exchange business units, the project management office (PMO), outside entities and IT staff to confirm compliance and risk mitigation has been met. Serves as third level support by identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting non-routine events and incidents associated with the database management processes. Responds to telephone calls and email requests for database management processes. Safeguards physical access to Exchange restricted data, processes and services. Job Grade 4 Job Tier 3 Career Area Information Technology Supervisor No Job Qualifications Five years of experience in the administration of IMS and DB2 or oracle and SQL server databases and subsystems. Or Bachelor's degree in information technology and three years of experience in the administration of IMS, DB2, Oracle or SQL server databases and subsystems. Degree (one Of) BACHELORS DEGREE - Preferred Major/Minor (one Of) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - Preferred Work – Onsite (HQ – Dallas, Texas) Remote/Telework not authorized per Presidential Memorandum “Return to In Person Work” Technical (Preferred/Required Skills/Systems) IMS Skills IMS for z/OS DBA experience in large-scale enterprise environments. Expertise in system architecture, advanced troubleshooting, and infrastructure planning. Advanced database engineering: HALDB partitioning, IMS Full Function DBs (HDAM, HISAM, HIDAM, GSAM). IMS SYSGEN proficiency (DBDGEN, PSBGEN, ACBGEN) and system parameter management. Dynamic Resource Definition (DRD) for online resource changes. IMS TM expertise (Control/Dependent Regions, transaction queue optimization). Performance tuning and diagnostics: buffer pools, locking, bottlenecks. IMS log, trace, and DBRC analysis; monitoring tools and vendor utilities. Disaster recovery: DBRC architecture, log/change accumulation management. DR planning, testing, and execution (failover, point-in-time recovery). Salary Minimum $72,064.00 Major Duties Analyze and resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication/clone/restores, and other database issues. Database design and new software compliance. Interface with development staff, project management and senior management. Data security. Provide technical resource/training to lead junior staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Challenges 24x7 work environment supporting Exchange operations, which requires either shift work, on call, and/or after hours project work and may include holidays, and weekends. IT environment is constantly changing demanding quick solutions and evolving skills. IT position located at HQ. IT position - there may be some TDY associated with this IT work.
