JUNIOR EMPLOYMENT LAW ATTORNEY

POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a Junior Employment Law Attorney to support its legal and employee relations functions. This role will provide guidance on workplace matters, draft and review employment documents, support internal investigations, and help ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate has strong legal research and writing skills, sound judgment, and an interest in advising HR and management on employment-related issues. This position offers the opportunity to develop in-house legal experience while working under senior legal leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research federal, state, and local employment laws and provide practical guidance to HR and management.

• Support employee relations matters involving performance management, discipline, terminations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodations, and leaves of absence.

• Draft and review employment agreements, offer letters, separation agreements, employee handbooks, workplace policies, and related documents.

• Assist with internal workplace investigations, including reviewing records, preparing interview questions, and documenting findings.

• Support wage and hour compliance, employee classification, and other employment practices.

• Help prepare responses to agency charges, administrative complaints, demand letters, and employment disputes under senior attorney supervision.

• Coordinate with outside counsel and assist with litigation support, document preservation, and discovery.

• Monitor employment law developments and recommend updates to workplace policies, practices, and training.

• Maintain organized legal records and handle confidential employee information with discretion.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar and eligibility to practice in the applicable jurisdiction, including any required in-house counsel registration.

• 1+ years of legal practice experience, including meaningful employment law experience.

• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and identify issues requiring senior counsel review.

• Sound professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential matters.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with HR, management, and cross-functional business teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience advising or representing employers.

• Experience with workplace investigations, agency charges, or employment litigation.

• Familiarity with employment law issues affecting multistate employers.

• Prior experience in an employment law practice at a law firm or within an in-house legal department.
