Position: Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technician Location: Hattiesburg, MS Job Id: 440 # of Openings: 1 Major Job Duties This key role supports the daily operations of their assigned water/wastewater treatment facility. Responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all crucial equipment through regular inspection and maintenance thereof. Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance to local, state, and federal standards. Starting Pay: $21/hr What We Offer $1,000 sign‑on bonus 90% employer‑paid medical, dental, and vision coverage 5% automatic company 401(k) contribution Company‑paid life insurance Short‑term and long‑term disability coverage Stable, essential industry with long‑term career opportunity Supportive team environment with hands‑on field work and training Primary Responsibilities Perform routine scheduled maintenance at assigned facilities Assess problems and diagnose equipment failures Check the condition of lift stations as needed Pull motors and pumps for needed maintenance Flush fire hydrants and flush‑outs for water quality control Inspect and operate gate valves Locate and mark distribution system facilities Install, relocate, and adjust meter boxes and valve cans Exterior maintenance of grounds and buildings including lawn and landscaping Assist with water and wastewater line repairs and other work as directedAlways ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility Submit orders necessary supplies Fulfill customer work orders as required Read customer water meters at assigned intervals in the assigned area of responsibility Maintain a daily maintenance log for regulatory requirements All other duties as assigned Personal Attributes Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem Attention to Detail - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task from the beginning to the end of the project/task Communication, Oral & Written- Ability to communicate effectively with others using both the spoken/written word Decision Making - Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures Ethical - Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards Judgment - Ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work‑related problems Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one’s conduct.
