Research Pharmacist

Overview The Research Pharmacist will oversee investigational pharmacy operations and the pharmacy technical staff to support the institution’s growing involvement in clinical research activities. The role provides support to industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials for multiple research sites in the outpatient setting. Key Responsibilities Lead investigational pharmacy operations and manage pharmacy staff for multiple outpatient clinical trials. Coordinate with investigators, sponsors, and clinical teams to implement study protocols, ensuring adherence to SOPs, GCP, and FDA guidelines. Develop and maintain detailed procedures and documentation for the preparation, dispensing, labeling, and distribution of investigational drugs, including computer entry codes and labels. Perform complex pharmaceutical calculations, interpret medication orders, and conduct advanced dispensing activities while maintaining accuracy and compliance. Prepare and keep records for protocols, subjects, drug accountability, and shipment logs; provide mandatory reports to management and regulatory agencies. Oversee improvement of shipment, delivery, and storage of investigational drugs to patient care locations, ensuring compliance with mandatory mandates. Collaborate with Study Chairs and research staff to trend drug utilization, resolve issues, and support study status reporting. Manage performance, development, budgeting, and compliance obligations for pharmacy staff and technicians under federal, state, and local mandates. Qualifications Doctorate Degree and licensed pharmacist. Knowledge of FDA guidelines and GCP mandates. Minimum one year of chemotherapy admixture experience. Ability to read, interpret, and comply with mandatory research protocols.
