Project Scope

The Safety Advisor IV will provide senior-level safety oversight for new construction and renovation projects throughout the Auburn, Massachusetts region. The project portfolio may include commercial, industrial, institutional, energy, infrastructure, and wastewater facilities.

This position is approximately 80% field-based and 20% office-based. The advisor will typically visit five to eight sites per week, although larger or more complex projects may require concentrated support at one or two locations. Key exposures include roadway traffic, excavation, trenching, shoring, fall hazards, and PPE compliance.

The Safety Advisor IV will serve as an experienced coach and trusted safety resource for project teams. Success requires the ability to influence safe behavior, build credibility with field personnel, support investigations, and promote accountability through strong relationships rather than a policing approach.

Qualifications

✅ Bachelor's degree in Safety or a closely related field, or very close to degree completion
✅ Seven to ten years of construction safety experience
✅ Certified Safety Professional credential
✅ OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain it
✅ Strong knowledge of construction hazards and control measures
✅ Demonstrated ability to coach and influence field teams
✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills

Additional Requirements

✅ Ability to work approximately 80% in the field and 20% in the office
✅ Ability to travel between multiple regional project sites
✅ Comfortable visiting an average of five to eight sites per week
✅ Ability to support larger, more complex projects when required
✅ Willingness to participate in meetings, reporting, investigations, and documentation
✅ Ability to work on-site with no remote-work arrangement

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level safety oversight across multiple construction projects
• Evaluate hazards involving traffic, excavations, trenches, shoring, fall exposure, and PPE
• Coach field employees, supervisors, and project leaders on safe work practices
• Build productive relationships with project teams and operational leadership
• Conduct site assessments, observations, and corrective-action follow-ups
• Lead or collaborate on incident investigations and associated documentation
• Prepare reports and communicate trends, findings, and safety priorities
• Support project planning and the implementation of hazard controls
• Promote consistent safety expectations across multiple sites
• Serve as a technical safety resource for complex field activities
