Job SummaryInjection mold toolingengineering position supportingprojectsincludingdesigning, receiving, and transferringofinjection molds,molding automation end of arm robottooling, assemblyautomation,metrology fixtures, andvariousmanufacturing aids.Responsible forpurchasing,tracking and transferringinjection moldsandother associatedtooling required for plant manufacturing operation;assist withprojectinstallationand commissioningto improve/maximizesiteproduction, quality, profitability and safety from an equipment and tooling perspective.Works closely with both internal and external customers and vendors.Responsible for supporting the execution of engineering efforts fromconcepttoproduction for new products and continuous improvement initiatives within existingsystems/platforms within thecustomerrequirements.Essential Duties Assistwithinjection moldtoolingandassociated injection molding automated systemvalidation. Tasks include writing, reviewingand executing validation documentsandassisting withinjection mold and injection moldingequipment start-up and troubleshooting.Providetechnical expertise oninjection molddesign and operationtotheQuality, Engineering and Productionteamsas required.Provide support for the installation of newinjection molds,equipment and related automated systems;collaborate withother engineering team members toinvestigate tooling and process problems; make new productdesign/process recommendations as necessary.Communicate requirements with internal customers and suppliers such that project goals and customer’s needs are met or exceeded.Support a Lean Manufacturing environment within the facilityMaintaininjection moldand hot runnerdrawingsfor the Tool Room.Control theinjection molddocumentationrevisionstatetomake surethattheMasterControlqualitydocument control systemreflects the correct version of thevendor’sand/orcustomer’sdrawings, 3D CAD, BOMand other relateddocumentation.Providetimelysupport forthecompletion ofqualityinvestigationsand project documentupdate requests,including but not limited to, IssueReviews, NCMR’s, CAPA’s andChangeRequests.Essential ResponsibilitiesCreateand update 3DCAD models and detailed drawings forinjectionmolds,end of arm tools,assembly fixtures, and assembly manufacturing aids.Help createa feedbacksystemto communicatedesignissues and potentialimprovementsbetween theProductionteamandinternal andcustomerNew ProductIntroduction (NPI)teams.SupportwithIncoming of new tools, full IQ including, Steel cert, attachment, MAT form, updating inventory. Preparation/Documentation package (Engineering) Execution (Mold Makers)Handle inventory managementofqualified and unqualifiedsparesteelandtool roomconsumable items.Tracktool vendorsprogressalong withmilestonedatesand supportbackgroundinformationonproblems and delays.Coordinateandscheduleoutbound and inbound shippingbetween the customers, tooling vendorsandinternal Westteams.Assistwith design,documentation,and fabricationofcustomparts/tools/fixturesto support siteproduction(End of Arm Tooling (EoAT),productioninjection molds, customfixtures/parts).Provide supportwith someshort-termsolutions to keep the lines running. Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.EducationEducation or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, equivalent four-year technical degree or commensurate work experienceWork ExperienceExperience:​0-3 years of experience​in an engineering capacityProficiency in SolidWorksProficient in creatingand updating3D CAD models and 2D CADdrawingsEffective analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExperience in an active manufacturing environment, especially ininjection moldingExperience designing complexinjectionmolding toolsExperience fabricating, assembling or servicing complex injection molding toolsExperience withsimpleelectronicwiring assembliesand sensor systemsProficient inapplyingGeometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)conceptsExperience working in a regulated GMP or GLP environmentExperience applyinglean manufacturing and design for manufacturability(DFM)conceptsPrevious experience with SAP S/4 HANA is a plus.Travel Requirements5%: Up to 13 business days per yearPhysical RequirementsMust be able to stand for 4-8 hours a day when performing equipment acceptance testing.Must be able to perform required gowning and work within an ISO 7/8cleanroom.Must be able to learn and executestructuredinvestigations andanalyses in both verbal and written form, using statistical data when appropriate.Must be able to own and be held responsible for assigned activities while contributing to a team and collaborating with others across multiple business functions.Medical Device manufacturing requires strict adherence to standards. Working environment is a manufacturing facility, which houses plastic injection molding machines. Must tolerate fumes and particulate generated from various plastics. Work areas are equipped with adequate lighting, cooling/heating and equipment that are in good working conditions. Must work constructively in an environment that may be stressful due to competing resources while at all times maintaining company confidentiality. Must be able to work scheduled work week, plus overtime and/or irregular hours as required to complete assignments. May stand or sit for extended periods of time. Must transport oneself to and from other areas of the facility and travel to other divisions when necessary. Must have good visual acuity. If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues.Physical capability to lift materials at the “operator level” 40lb.
